Heather Bakken

Prior to moving to Ottawa three years ago, Heather worked at CBC News for nearly two decades as an Anchor,  Reporter, Writer and Producer. She is passionate about many issues and does an extensive amount of volunteer work including: President of the Canadian Club of Ottawa, Vice Chair of the Canadian chapter of the Internet Society, Vice President of the Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom, and a board member with Women in Communications and Technology, where she mentors other women on how to advance their careers.

Heather is also the Founder and President of the Ottawa Debating Society - which is the only public debating club in the capital.

Shaun Barr

Academic Chair - Construction Trades & Building Systems

Shaun is the Academic Chair of Construction Trades and Building Systems and the Head of Apprenticeship Training at Algonquin College with 14 combined years of Post-Secondary Management and Teaching experience in Adult Education.  He received a Masters of Education in Leadership and Learning from UPEI in 2017 and a Diploma from Algonquin College as a Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician in 1993 and also holds multiple Trades’ Certifications.  Shaun owned and operated his own business in the HRAC Industry completing a wide variety of projects in the residential/commercial sectors.
